All items are upgradeable up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it is given the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its initial condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades. If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, and all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure. If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs. The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade—for example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades, each costing 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade. Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. The player will still need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost mentioned above.
